My name is Karlen Kleinkopf, I am wife to a wonderful husband of 18 years and mother to my sweet five year-old daughter. I have always loved photography, but it wasn’t until my daughter was born that photography became a true passion for me. I am a self-taught photographer, and am completely obsessed with everything about this exciting and challenging industry. Rock the Shot was founded by myself and Laura Thomas of Pretty Presets in 2010. Our shared passion and a desire to help photographers improve their skills and build better businesses inspired us to create an innovative platform where both new photographers and seasoned professionals could share their work, knowledge, and experience with one another.

Hello! My name is Laura Thomas and I’m married to a man in uniform and we have two beautiful children. Photography is one of my many passions, along with: my family, my faith, charity and business. Like many people, my introduction to photography came as a hobby. In 2008, it became my profession. Towards the end of 2009 I moved from professional photography to creating presets for Lightroom and establishing Pretty Presets. Karlen and I met in 2010 and founded Rock the Shot in 2011. As a photographer, I was always searching for a community like Rock The Shot. Karlen and I both wanted to offer a forum that inspired and encouraged others to expand on their photography techniques and business strategies. We are committed to providing that environment for our fellow photographers.

Shannan Painter is a newbie photographer who has spent the last 5 years working with the left side of her brain helping small businesses organize their accounting and taxes. She decided to take the big step and pursue her dream of becoming a professional photographer in 2013 after adding a third boy to her house that was already full of super heroes, trucks, and sports equipment. She and her husband, who is a local TV meteorologist, play pick-up games of basketball in their free time and like to take road trips to Lake Minnetonka with all 3 boys, and their dog Growler.
